Topic > Management Principles - 1780

The strength of an organization depends primarily on the management team. Without it the organization will go haywire. The people who manage management teams are called managers. “Management involves coordinating and supervising the work activities of others so that their tasks are completed efficiently and effectively” (Robbins et al., 2009, p.10). The manager interviewed is Mr W and works for a small company, Neoncrafts Sdn Bhd, established in January 1993. He has been at the highest level, as Managing Director (MD) since the inception of the business. The company provides neon light installation service. The company consists of less than 20 employees and its main goal is to provide good service and make a profit. The organization has implemented several projects that it can be proud of, such as the Coca-Cola sign on the Federal Highway, Citibank in Kuala Lumpur, Senor Baker at Nilai Inti College and some others. Mr. W is an experienced businessman and manager. We can use these theories and compare them with what Mr. W answered. There are four functions of management proposed by Henry Fayol in 1949. It is divided into planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Mr. W rated planning, organization and leadership as 5 on a scale of 1 to 5. These functions are important to him as he defines the company's mission statements, plans and strategizes as best as possible to achieve these plans and encourages and supports its employees when necessary. He rated the control as 3 as he has appointed someone else to keep an eye on the employees and ensure that they do their work efficiently. Mr. W measures the performance of his employees and holds weekly meetings to update the current situation of the industry and employees. It's...half of the sheet......ce List1.
