Globalization and films Globalization is the spread of different political, economic and cultural trends in different parts of the world. (Stanford) American media has spread rapidly across the world, and at the forefront of the media blitz is cinema. Movies are an incredibly important escape for many people around the world. Films can transport the viewer to another place or time, and since the beginning of society, performances have been a staple of cultural activity. Films show a perception of reality, for better or worse. Many see films and the cultural context they are placed in and think it must be an accurate representation, which sometimes unfairly stigmatizes a group of people or culture. (US Census) Hollywood's success has come without much competition pushing for more, and with the emergence of cinematic globalization, it should be very interesting to see if they can maintain the ideal movie headquarters. Its unique pool of talent from many different countries, the cultural impact of Hollywood films is now felt in all parts of the world. Cinema is a global good that everyone can enjoy and I think cinema will continue to grow. It will be very interesting to see even greater diversity globally in cinema, and with diversity comes creativity, which everyone can benefit from with their unique ability to make big-budget films that appeal.
