Trollope was very partial in his writing Domestic Manners of the Americans. He heard so many great things about this newly liberated country and expected the United States to be a fully developed imitation of his former homeland. She decided to visit the Western world herself and wrote about her experiences in the country. Upon his arrival and stay he quickly realized that America was not what he expected. The main reason Trollope wrote his book was to show a different side of the united nation, separate from what others believed. The country was not at all what he expected; he expected Americans to be cultured in exactly the same way that the English were. She did not come to the country with an open mind to see other people with different mannerisms than hers. He attempted to find the positive aspects of the country, so his opinion was not completely biased. He had great respect for the newly elected president, Andrew
