This relates to catharsis, depth is self-disclosure and self-clarification because of the way the communicator gets something out of their mind and does not clarify their thoughts and attitudes and/or feelings. For example, the scene where Everett tells Brinn that he wore underwear for three days or sometimes four, shows the characteristics of Catharsis and Depth in Self-Disclosure because he lets out personal information about what was on his mind from the unexpected. On a first date it is not best to let the other person know a lot about you. Also, you shouldn't say what you think because you feel like it. Saying something too personal, like Evett did, to the other person you're with isn't the best option because they might leave and never want to hear about you again. It is not the best option to use full disclosure because revealing your personal information is not the most cost-effective solution to being a competent communicator. You don't want to reveal everything about yourself when you just met that person because you never know what kind of person they might be. Another reason why full transparency is not a good source to use on a first date is the self-clarification of the communicator. When you use full disclosure, you mention random topics bringing out different feelings and attitudes from us without clarification. For example, in the film, when Everett mentions "confidence" as one of his icebreakers, he doesn't make his feelings clear about why that is. This causes Brinn to start crying and then Everitt hugs her. He was saying what randomly came to mind and what he thought would be best for her to know about him, but he was doing it without giving an explanation. It means he was specifying why he just said what he mentioned. This
