Topic > The problems of adapting to adolescence - 639

Teenagers face many problems during their day. Most teenagers have difficulty being who they are. Adolescents as a whole should take responsibility for those adolescents who do not fit into certain groups. From personal experience, you see students being bullied every day. Bullying is the biggest problem during the day in high school. There are many ways we could solve this bullying problem, considering that many students suffer every day just because they don't fit in. Adolescence is all about wanting to be able to fit in with your peers. It's hard not to feel accepted in high school. When someone doesn't feel accepted it shows because they are always quiet and shy. They usually go out alone rather than in a group of friends like other teenagers might. Furthermore, they don't feel accepted because they are afraid of being who they are. The article “Parents of transgender girl push for her rights to use girls' bathroom” points out: “I just didn't feel comfortable in my own skin, especially, for example, in the bathroom” (Greenfield). This shows how someone cannot be themselves around other people. Coy just wanted to be accepted as a girl. This quote from the text shows how harsh some people can be towards others when it comes to fitting in. Teens should take some responsibility for others who don't fit in. If everyone was willing to make new friends, be kind to everyone, and not be so judgmental of others, more people would feel comfortable with different groups of friends. In the video "People Like Us, Part 4, Most Likely to Succeed", all the different cliques present in the high school are acknowledged. He listed them one after another, from jocks to geeks, also known... middle of paper... a 12 year old boy tried and succeeded to kill someone, but when you want something bad enough you tend to do whatever it takes to get it. In conclusion, teenagers compromise many things to try to fit in, many students see what happens every day in the hallways of their school. Overall, adolescence should find ways to stop bullying and become more responsible about it. As I have demonstrated in the previous paragraphs, all teenagers want to be able to fit in, but we come from a society where people are blind and cannot see the good in people without first judging them.
