Their sudden arrivals shocked the job market and created competition in the marketplace. There is also excessive demand in the housing market while the supply of housing is fixed. However, their arrivals filled dirty jobs such as drainage service where Native Americans are not interested in working. They revived the abandoned neighborhood by settling into homes and contributing to the growth of the economy. I think this is an interesting story that can be analyzed from an economic concept as unemployment, discrimination and housing issues are the main concept of the story. While opportunity cost and incentive analyzes are also needed as we are evaluating the motivations of refugees coming to the United States. After finishing reading this book, I learned that success always requires hard work, as demonstrated by the achievements of refugees in the Clarkston community. It also helps me understand the economic concept more deeply as it describes their struggles in terms of job opportunities and neighborhood issues such as poverty, housing, and crime. I also learned that political persecution is so scary because it forces its inhabitants to abandon their country and live in a totally foreign place. However, as I read the book trying to understand the causes of discrimination faced by refugees, I find no factors that may contribute to discrimination. The work those refugees do
