In the novel Antigone by Sophocles, there is a lot of betrayal in the novel, which a huge amount of the novel is generally about family, pride and a drastic amount of drama. In the novel Antigone, King Creon who was chased away by Etocles because his brother Polyneices killed him for the kingdom of Thebes but they both ended up dying and Creon doesn't allow anyone to bury Polyneices' body because he was a merchant fighting against his brothers and Thebes. Antiogone, sister of the brothers, disobeys Creon and his order. When she buries her brother, she ends up being captured and Creon sends her to be buried alive. When blind profit tells Creon that the gods have always been good, Creon repents and goes to get Antigone out, but it is too late that trouble has happened. Now Creon will have to spend his life in agony looking back at his mistakes. Antigone, the daughter of Oedipus, is a strong believer who fights for what is right, Antigone's moral authority belongs to the gods and she will do anything to obey if it means being killed she will suffer if she knows it is for an equally great cause. When Antigone's two brothers killed each other, Polyneices was considered a merchant for fighting against his brother's country, and Aetocles was buried as a hero fighting for his country of Thebes. Because of this tragedy, the throne was crowned with the name of Creon, Antigone's uncle. At that time, the Greeks believed that if the dead were not buried, their body would never be at peace. Antigone stated that Creon would do the unexpected: “But the body of Polyneices who died miserably…will be left without tears, without burial, a lovely treasure for the birds that graze and feast as they please” (60). Antigone feels that she should... middle of paper... too late, understand what justice means." Creon replies: “Oh, I have learned through blood and tears!...Oh the agony, the heartbreaking agonies of our lives... Take me away, I pray, out of sight. An indiscriminate and reckless fool! At the end of the story Creon realizes that Antigone was right, it was a tradition that he did not follow. As a result Creon has to suffer alive and let the birds choose as his body if it is a corpse that is not buried because Creon does not deserve it of everything to himself, but this is what happens when you are too proud of yourself and never take anyone's words into consideration. As a result, he has to suffer a lonely and cruel life without his family never let your pride get too caught up or you will lose everyone you care about and live with guilt for the rest of your life.
