Developmental scopes and developmental periods are important terms to know when talking about your child's development. As humans develop, they are expected to reach different milestones, and parents should be aware of when certain developments occur in children. There are three developmental domains in which humans develop: physical-motor, perceptual-cognitive, and social-emotional. The domain of physical-motor development includes physical growth, mental growth, and strength growth in humans. The development of sensory and motor skills and strong health also develop during this period (Papalia & Martorell, 2015). The domain of perceptual-cognitive development includes the growth of mental abilities, attention span, memory, language, reasoning, thinking, imagination and imagination. During the life of a human being there are eight different periods of development that a human being will go through and during these periods the growth of physical, cognitive and psychological development occurs. The first period is the prenatal period, which runs from conception to birth. During this period, physical growth occurs, where a baby will begin to form inside the mother's womb. Children will also learn to respond to stimuli around them and respond to well-known voices (Papalia & Martorell, 2015). The second period is that of infancy and the child, which goes from birth to the age of three. During this period, physical and mental growth occurs at a rapid pace, children also learn to remember things, understand problems, become self-aware, and form attachments to their parents and people close to them (Papalia & Martorell, 2015). The third period is early childhood, i.e. from three to six years. During this time your child will begin to slow down in physical growth and begin to improve strength and motor skills.
