I consider us a very close-knit family. My brother is my best friend and the biggest influence in my life. Without him my life would be even more chaotic than it already is. I am fortunate to have both sides of my grandparents very close to me and visit them often. My maternal grandparents are two of the people who have had the most impact on my life. They're both Southern, so Southern hospitality and good food are a given. My grandmother, with God's help, beat cancer, had three hip replacements, two knee surgeries, and is still one of the strongest believers I know. She taught me to cook and to be a godly woman in all circumstances. My grandfather is currently battling Parkinson's, but is still one of the best rifle and pistol shooters I've ever met. When I was little, she always emphasized the importance of family and how no matter who comes into our lives or where we go, family is a constant. Despite all the trials they go through, they remain strong in their faith and continue to be an example for the generations who look up to them. In my family, English is our main language. Proper etiquette was always emphasized, as was not using poor jargon or foul language. My parents raised my brother and me in a Southern family, so when they address authority, I'm "ma'am" or "sir," no exceptions. I was taught that the
