Aisha Adan15/5/2014Theology 1000Reflection Paper Jesus in Islam The questions raised in theological argument are critical for many people in deciding what the truth is about religion . Questions like: Who is God? What is the image of God? What is the meaning of Jesus? We have covered these topics in depth throughout the semester. As a Muslim student it was difficult to grasp and examine these ideas. As I reflected on the materials covered in class, I had to think a lot about what I wanted to do as a final project. I have learned many new things about Christianity this semester. I have grown spiritually while teaching this class and somehow feel closer to Jesus. Learning about Jesus from a Christian perspective has strengthened my faith and inspired me to realize the importance of Jesus from a Muslim perspective. As a child, my parents focused on teaching me the importance of the Prophet Muhammad and his teachings. I was taught that Prophet Mohamed (peace be upon him) conveyed the true word and that I should follow his teachings of Islam. As a child, the Prophet Muhammad became my role model. I learned about his years as an orphan and who he became. I gained sympathy, respect and love towards the prophet (peace be upon him). By reading the Koran and various Islamic texts I was able to reveal and see the characters of the prophet. He possesses the best moral qualities and characters. I fell in love with his generosity, his sincerity and his relationship with the Nobel. Prophet Mohamed (peace be upon him) is the best example of humanity and wanted to be just like him. However, as I grew older I was exposed to the new teachings of Islam. I began to learn about several prophecies... halfway through the paper... a day when all adherents are obliged to go to a group prayer. Despite these significant similarities, the difference keeps the followers of the two religions apart. My religion considers Jesus to be a great prophet of God and we respect Jesus just like any Abraham, Moses and Muhammad. On the other hand, Christians consider Jesus as the son of God, a notion that we Muslims cannot accept. However, I think it's time for people to overlook the differences and embrace the commonalities. Christianity and Islam are two religions that share countless similarities. Some believe that both believe in moral conduct, both are conflicting religions, and both believe in an afterlife. Both religions attempt to help an individual become a better “you.” I chose this topic of Jesus because it forms a connection and interreligiosity between Islam and Christianity..
