What are the variables that influence your classroom community? This is a very complex and challenging question. An unlimited amount of variables will and do influence what happens in your classroom, and not every single one of them has a fix or solution to what is causing the problem. The four variables I will consider that influence a teacher's classroom community are culture and poverty, increasing difficulty of standards, student-teacher relationships, and family dynamics. One of the main variables that can and will influence the class community is culture and poverty. The economic situation of your students and their families will influence their behavior in the classroom. Students need a stable environment. Instability in students' lives and students who don't know what will happen next in their lives will have difficulty learning and concentrating in class. Social norms will be very different between each culture. This will also impact your classroom. In schools there are a set of hidden rules, which not all students know or will be able to understand, either due to cultural differences or due to different family economic conditions. This variable can impact children in several ways. They may have difficulty concentrating in class, have a lack of parental involvement in their life, there may be a large disconnect between the teacher and the student or between the student and other students due to misunderstandings and differences. These can also influence how students act and behave, their actions and reactions to certain scenarios and situations. It is difficult to find a solution or truly control this variable as a teacher since so much of it is completely out of the teacher's control. One thing you can ... middle of paper ......doing this can also enrich the lives of your students as they will learn about their classmates and many different cultures. Another way to involve parents in class is to have them come in and talk about their occupation. It's never too early to put an emphasis on different jobs and it's important for children to know the different career choices they can have. There are many different variables that can affect classroom community and these are just a few of them. Every aspect of a child's life has a direct impact on how they will behave in the classroom and this will impact the classroom environment. Four of the many variables I have focused on that can and will influence a teacher's classroom community are culture and poverty, increasing difficulty of standards, student-teacher relationships, and family dynamics..
