Introduction:An aggressive pilot, thanks to his daring nature, a young Canadian became a legend and inspired a new generation of aces. Billy Bishop was a brave man and the greatest fighter pilot to serve Canada during the war. The purpose of this essay is to learn and recognize the diverse contributions made by Billy Bishop and his journey to rise above his peers through strength and courage. This is true because he would win 16 medals and become the first Canadian to win the Victoria Cross. First, the difficult path he had to face to realize his dream will be discussed. Secondly, his remarkable victories and contributions during the war will be discussed. Finally the ordeal he faced from people who believe he lied about his fighting and the controversy over whether or not he deserved the Victoria Cross will be discussed. Life Before Flying: Billy Bishop's path to greatness wasn't easy. He encountered many challenges throughout his young life that recognized him as a fiercest fighter pilot and a true hero. Billy Bishop faced an incredibly difficult task to realize his dream of becoming Canada's greatest ace. Bishop had a difficult life at Owen Sound Collegiate. He would be the butt of many jokes and preferred the company of girls. However, his anger and punches earned him acceptance into school. He was a good-natured boy born on February 8, 1984. In 1911, at the age of 17, his parents sent him to the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario, due to his mediocre grades in school which his father knew they wouldn't let him get it. accepted at University of Toronto. He was not an academic student and in his third year of high school he was found cheating on a class exam that would later be the subject of much controversy... halfway through the test... dues were discussed. The difficult path he faced to become a fighter pilot, his incredible victories and contributions during the war, and the recognition of the ordeal he faced by people who believe he falsely claimed he triumphed in his fight the Victoria Cross. This indicates that after the conclusion of the research there is confidence that Billy Bishop contributed greatly to the success of the Allied nations in both world wars. However, the Billy Bishop controversy is very opinionated and discussed by all historians. There is inconclusive evidence as to whether Billy Bishop completed the mission or not. Therefore it was difficult to analyze that section because every historian has their own answer. It's unfortunate, though, that a controversy like this could damage the remarkable career of Canada's greatest ace, Billy Bishop.
