Dreams The American Dream and God's Dream are quite different, but somewhat similar. The differences and similarities between the two must be clearly defined. Therefore, they will understand the impact and results of both ideas on the way society deals with itself. People in society need to define what they are looking for in their personal journeys. Doing this without causing harm to others in the process is called “Pareto optimality.” Whatever a person does should not have a negative impact on others. This has been one of the biggest conflicts in today's society. To understand it from a religious perspective, an individual must define what they are looking for in their life. After all, the American dream is founded on the ideals of God's dream. Over time they have separated from each other and from themselves. According to the story of Genesis, God created the world in seven days, and "it was good." What happened? We can still see remnants of what these Testaments meant by this. We can see the mountains of the Midwest and the canyons of the Southwest and the beautiful beaches of the East and West coasts. We can also see the smog of Los Angeles, oil spills in the gulfs, the melting of the polar ice caps and the extinction of species at an exponential rate. We can see that the world could have a nuclear war any time soon and we would be extinct. It's really only a matter of time before Armageddon, and fire will rain from the sky. This may seem like a pessimistic view of the human race as a whole. Believe it or not, we are near the end of days and this very real future will become a reality, if we stay on the journey we have been on together for so long. Politicians, our representatives in this great United States of America, are incapable of functioning effectively. Employees in these “tainted industries” also appear to bear the brunt of the stigma that accompanies some of the jobs they must perform to participate in the unspoken competition for the American dream. The wages these people earn in proportion to the work they do to earn a living are way out of balance. It seems like it's all part of the American Dream, because the societal injustices that allow these jobs put dinner on the table for someone else's family. So someone inevitably benefits at the expense of another person. God created all men to bear the brunt of society's burden equally and to be equally able to share in its benefits. The scales have obviously tipped and the American dream has separated from God's dream due to every individual's overwhelming desire for more..
