Latin jazz was prominent in the 1960s and 1970s. Critics say the term Afro-Latin jazz might be more accurate. This is because this style employs aspects of Africa. This term is used to describe jazz from the mid-1960s onwards that takes influence from other styles, however it is not as easily identifiable as any of the other styles.
