The story of Othello and Desdemona in Othello can be compared to that of the story of Catherine and Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights. In Othello, Othello is a Moor who works under the king and marries Desdemona. However, in Othello, Iago convinces Othello of Desdemona's infidelity. In Wuthering Heights there is a love between Catherine and Heathcliff from an early age. Catherine then falls in love with Edgar Linton, a man who has loved her for a while, and marries him. Although this play and the novel seem different from each other in many ways, they are very similar. It seems obvious that Catherine and Heathcliff are very much in love, as are Othello and Desdemona. Desdemona seems to love Othello with all her heart saying that she is a “faithful wife” (4.2.35) and that she is an honest wife who has not betrayed her husband. Othello also loves his wife dearly, but is overwhelmed by the idea of justice. Heathcliff clearly believes that Catherine is his soulmate even declaring "I cannot live without my soul!" (162). He is evidently in love with this woman....
