They had to be "at the back of the line" because of what they could do, such as what they could do in the everyday world, such as voting and high profile jobs jobs and also how much they were paid. The women believed their bets were treated unfairly in many different ways, from how much they were paid to what they could do in the “real world.” If you interviewed women who lived in the 1930s they would say it's unfair and that they should be equal to men. If you went back in time to the 1930s and were a woman, how would you feel pressured to do everything yourself, like take care of your children and clean the house and work at the same time? The 1930s were a very difficult time for women and they just wanted it to end. In the 21st century, women can do whatever they want, like vote and get better jobs. The women in To Kill a Mockingbird felt the same way as real people in the 1930s. Nothing was fair to women in the 1930s. Women wanted everything to change NOW!!! People are equal and we all live happily
