War profiteers have been present as a major stain on Canadian society as they played roles in the two major world wars and also the Iraq War. Corruption began to become evident in the Shell Committee in Canada as it produced an increasing amount of munitions. The second war took the profits made during the first war and doubled them. Wall Street had now become the "world bank". Never before in history have businesses been so profitable. Private companies continue to grab huge contracts without questions to produce weapons, rebuild infrastructure or anything else the government deems necessary to win the war in Iraq. No one should benefit from war. There should be no "war millionaires" because this is only a reason to increase conflict. As Canada began producing more and more munitions to meet Britain's needs, corruption began to occur within the system. • - Many men went to Valcartier because of unemployment, including those who were recent immigrants who were unable to find a place in a struggling economy. After being sent overseas, the Canadians showed off their new boots, uniforms and wagons. A few months on Salisbury demonstrated that much of the First Contingent's equipment and clothing was cheaply made and poorly designed. • -Well-established exporters (such as the William Davies Co.) quadrupled their business in the first year of the war, but a British contract for 2 million Canadian boots did nothing to improve our nation's reputation for quality products. • - The British found themselves in desperate need of artillery, so Hughes called together some business associates and formed a Shell Committee. The British asked no questions and gave them an order for $2 million and 1.9 million brass shells by Christmas 1914... middle of the paper... and now in the 21st century war business doesn't they are finished. In fact, the situation is worse than before as the government blindly gives private companies huge contracts to produce bigger and more formidable weapons. It is wrong to profit from war, no matter who it is. a bad impact on the world. Getting excessive amounts of money to give people the power to kill others with less power is never right. Profiteers push others to go to war so they can earn a lot of money. We shouldn't rely so much on a war to get us out of depression by creating jobs. Instead, this money should be handed over to the government for good use, for the benefit of all. This could also help the economy. It is not in the best interests of Canadian society to allow people and companies to profit from war.
