Sunshine is essential in a person's life as it helps the person understand their interests without distractions or pressure from other people. It is also beneficial to oneself as it gives the person the freedom to deal with their current conflicts. An individual must isolate himself from others to satisfy his sense of responsibility. By limiting an individual's contact with other people, this individual's decision to fulfill his or her responsibilities will be less influenced by strangers. In William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, Prince Hamlet feels responsible to be faithful to his father by avenging his death and preventing the decline of Denmark. However, to fulfill these duties, he must isolate himself from family and friends to limit their influence on his thoughts and actions. To keep an individual's true emotions intact towards another person, this individual must avoid anyone who can influence him. or change his feelings towards that person. Hamlet has a very strong devotion to his father and adores him. While Queen Gertrude, King Claudius, and the people of Denmark have stopped mourning King Hamlet's death, Hamlet's loyalty to his father causes him to continue his grief towards him. Claudius and Gertrude are concerned about this eternal pain and want to help Hamlet progress in his life. When Hamlet first enters the play, Gertrude says, "Good Hamlet, cast away thy night-colour, and let thy eye look like a friend over Denmark. Do not forever seek thy noble father in the dust with thy eyelids veiled" (1, 2, 68-71)Gertrude is concerned about Hamlet's reluctance to accept his father's death and his constant grief. Therefore, he is trying to influence him in... middle of paper... who work with the king to ensure that he does not inherit these characteristics. By avoiding these habits, Hamlet can avoid becoming a king with similar attributes to Claudius and fulfill his responsibilities to Denmark. In conclusion, isolation can be a very useful tool to prevent others from influencing an individual's thoughts and actions. Hamlet used this tool throughout the play and alienated himself from his family and friends to escape their influence. This helped Hamlet retain his responsibility to avenge his father's death and his responsibility to prevent the decay of Denmark by giving him more control over his decisions to fulfill these duties. To summarize, isolation is not necessarily bad as it can be beneficial to oneself as it is a great tool to clarify the individual's sense of their responsibilities..
