Atopic DermatitisA mother spends the night in the hospital with her six-month-old baby for observation. After two exhausting days they return home. The mother begins to notice a rash on the baby's legs. Not knowing what to do or what the cause would be, he proceeds to take the child to constant doctor visits to get relief from the irritation. Therash disappears for a moment after trying numerous treatments but then reappears. Tired and frustrated, the mother asks the child's doctor if he can refer the child to the dermatologist. There may finally be a glimmer of hope. The mother continues the appointment only to be told that the child has a hereditary skin allergy known as Atopic Dermatitis. It is a very common chronic skin disease, also known as allergy or skin sensitivity. The disease is characterized by a red, scaly, excessively dry, intensely itchy rash. Red spots consume much of the surface of the skin, and in the folds it can crack and bleed. The word “dermatitis” refers to inflammation of the skin, while “atopic” means it is hereditary, it is hereditary and runs in families. This disorder is not life-threatening and is not contagious. Without the proper treatment, this incredibly irritating itch will only progress and can cause many inconveniences in your life. The true cause of this disease has yet to be determined. While healthcare workers don't know what's to blame; they helped find ways to control the skin problem. According to them, the environment, as well as many types of detergents, soaps and adverse weather conditions, contribute to the epidemic. Food allergens are the main provoking factors. Researchers have come to the conclusion that gen... middle of paper... you have a rash that comes out of nowhere and doesn't go away with simple treatment, just see your doctor. The least that can be said is that it must have been something simple that you came into contact with and will never have to worry about again. Distinctively there is an external difference for those who suffer from this allergy, even though internally we have mostly the same chemical composition. Occasionally you may notice a noticeable glow. Just keep in mind that people are more curious and would benefit from knowledge more than a hateful insult. This disease is mostly an inconvenience and can be alleviated with proper treatment. Works Cited Department of Dermatology, Hokkaido University School of Medicine, Sapporo, Japan 2008.
