It simply must be made. Teachers need to be able to come to work every day knowing that they are using up-to-date documents, resources and teaching practices. The curriculum department made some critical timing errors and cost the district in many ways. Rebuilding trust and a feeling of support is also necessary for this restructuring process. The two main factors for this type of change are time and money. The money was allocated by the council. They have made additional human resources available and expect results. They approved additional funding over the next four years for more staff and new resources. The time that teachers and others will have to dedicate to the process must be evaluated and structured. We need short-term victories and we need to see the big picture. Ultimately, this process could take up to three years or be completed in 18 months. The longer it takes, the more it will be necessary to remind everyone of “why” we need to make the change. If the curriculum department can guide the district through the process, rooted in the vision of high-quality education, the renovation will be a positive experience. There will always be a push to improve standardized scores and overall student achievement. The district will be better positioned to support students with better informed and aligned teachers
