In its pre-operational phase he talked about mental representation such as role-playing games and pretend games in which children are actually able to internalize the mental representation of the world around them and keep it in their head. This is also a building block of memory, you have to be able to hold something in your head in order to store it in memory. Now, what I would implement in the classroom based on this theory would be to witness children's pretend play and interact with their class to build their knowledge. However, we must keep in mind that not all students are on the same stage. Additionally, we want our students to interact with their peers. Vygotsky introduced something more into Piaget's theory. He brought us the idea that social interaction with peers is very important. So if we go back to the video, the children are learning from each other as they talk about how they are going to build a bigger cage. He also introduced the zone of proximal development where a child needs some guidance from an adult or older peer. In the video we see how the teacher facilitates the students and encourages them to think deeper into their thoughts by asking open-ended questions in which they reach a deep level of awareness.
