Hinduism: from the Christian point of view Hinduism is considered the oldest organized religion in the world. Hinduism as a whole consists of thousands of various religious groups that have evolved over time. Hinduism has no documented origin or founder and is applied to many of the philosophical and religious traditions found in India. The External Teaching or “Sanatana Dharma” is known as the religious collection of sacred texts. These texts, while complex, comprise traditions and practices that share common ground but lack overall unity and coherence. To grasp the traditions and true understanding of Hinduism, one must first learn the history of the Aryans, the scriptures, the Lord Brahma Vishu Shiva, and the key ideas of the religion in relation to Christianity. Hinduism, also known as Vedic culture, originated from a race known as the Aryans. They migrated to the Indian subcontinent thousands of years before the birth of Jesus Christ. The Aryans brought their own culture and soon after began to evolve to conform to their environment. Their original homeland, believed to be in present-day Central Asia, was known as the lost Airyane Vaejahi which translates to "The Land of the Seed of the Aryans". With the change of the Aryans, the initial stages of Hinduism began to form in Greece, Italy, Germany, France and Scandinavia. There is a wealth of knowledge contained in the Hindu scripture series. They are organized into two main categories, Shruti revelation and Smriti tradition. Shruti describes all things heard and Smriti is all things remembered. The Schruti literature consists of the four Vedas and the Upanishads represent the accumulated treasure of spiritual laws discovered by different people at different times. Shruti......middle of paper......ns and religious philosophies. In the history of humanity there has never been a war between Hindus and Christians over religious beliefs. The Hindu religion supports the idea that beliefs are what determines thinking and attitude towards life, which also directs a person's actions. It is a person's actions that create his destiny. Christianity follows a similar pattern in that a person's actions and attitude towards life will have an effect as a Christian. While Hindus believe in a Supreme Being, they also believe in the laws of karma and reincarnation. There is a very important similarity between Christianity and Hinduism. Both Hindus and Christians share the belief that no religion teaches God's only path to salvation and that all religious paths are aspects of God's light, equally worthy of understanding and tolerance..
