Topic > The Son of God in Pure Christianity by CS Lewis

So could Jesus be the Son of God? Once again, Jesus lived such a noble, extraordinary, and loving life that has been remembered by billions of people and has been the center of a religion for thousands of years! If it was all a lie, why would a man die a horrible death for something he knows isn't true? If he was crazy, why was there never any indication in any secular writing that stated this truth? He lived a life worthy of what he preached and predicted his death and resurrection. Josh McDowell, in More than a Carpenter, presents the idea that Jesus and his story are all a mistake. He proposes that Jesus never existed and that history was created only to start an epidemic of religion. Apparently, this view is very common among people who have not studied the Bible or Jesus in depth. He answers the same question by assuming that it would take more than one Jesus to invent a Jesus. What person can create such a perfect, complete and attractive story? This story is about love and redemption and someone smarter than Aristotle would have had a hard time creating such an enduring and never-ending story
