CHAPTER 11.0 INTRODUCTIONCommonly, mathematics is about the study of quantity, structure, shape, change and much more that is closely related to our environment. In relation to the study of mathematics, children will be exposed to the topic of numbers at an early age. First, they will learn to count numbers as a pattern of words that occurs most commonly starting in kindergarten. They will keep repeating the number and as they say it, they will match it to the correct number of things like eggs, balls and other things that children commonly understand. Given the nature of children, they are interested in something that is interactive, fun and more relaxing to have an effective learning process. There are many benefits that come with using playing cards as a teaching tool. Play can help motivate children and engage them in thinking and applying concepts and skills (Mathematical Games as an Aid to Teaching Mathematics, 2004). Furthermore, the game also gives children the opportunity to communicate their ideas and justify their thinking. There are some factors to consider when choosing the right type of game to use, such as the ability of the children, the ethos of the school and the teacher's ability to control the class. For this reason, this study will suggest a number game card that obeys children's interest, called Numeranto Game Card. 1.1 CONTEXT OF THE STUDY Education nowadays continues to grow and develop. No student can be overlooked. However, there are few students who still fail to master the 4R skills of reading, calculation, writing and reasoning. Even more worrying is when children are able to...... middle of paper ......aim, they still encounter some unavoidable limitations. Firstly because of the time limit. This research was conducted among primary school students. The design of this research is a quasi-experimental research. Therefore, the researcher must perform at least five treatments on the students. Because the researcher does not have enough time, there are some groups of students who cannot perform five treatments. The second limitation faced by the researcher was the conduct of the questionnaire. Since the respondents were primary school students, the researchers had to spend a lot of time explaining the questionnaire to the students. The next limitation is the use of pre- and post-tests. The result for both tests of most students is slightly different. So the researcher cannot consider this as proof of the effectiveness of using the Numeranto playing card.
