Focusing on what other people have to offer is one thing, but being able to actually encourage and reward it is another. As a leader, I should want to show support to my followers in every way possible, whether verbally or physically. If someone does spectacular work on a project or meets a deadline, I might reward that behavior in some way. It could be an uplifting comment or even a free lunch. Whatever it is, it will most likely empower that person and make them want to continue doing stellar work. I could empower people by communicating more frequently and with better quality. Additionally, empowerment might come in handy when you are doing less-than-stellar work.
