Before this decisive scene that triggered the next sequence of events, we saw how the producer ties the search for freedom to the final sacrifice. Despite several attempts by the commanding officer to convince the sorcerer to stop dancing and singing, the sorcerer ignores orders knowing that he will be severely punished. By expressing his beliefs through song, he wanted to give his voice and allow his people to join him in inciting an uprising for their rights. In fact, he knew that this rebellious action would lead to his death, but he decided that he would rather become a martyr for his people. As the scene progresses, the camera repeatedly cuts between Geronimo and the Apache scout who has been ordered to arrest Geronimo. This method is known as reaction shooting. The purpose of this style is to give the audience a shot of a person reacting to the main action as a listener; in this case, between the Apache scout and Geronimo. As each shot progresses, it is reflected that both had come to a mutual understanding of the true oppression and injustice they were forced into, contributing to actions that influenced events for the rest of the series.
