In the movie We are Marshall, portrays a tragic moment in the history of the NCAA. This tragedy was the worst moment in the history of sports. Other schools turned to this school and particularly to one of their biggest rivals, West Virginia University. A man's passion for the game and excellent morals had the courage to become the head coach of the “Thundering Herd”. Coach Jack Lengyel restores the way of life in the town of Huntington, West Virginia. The football program has reignited life in the hearts of the residents of this small town. However, Red Dawson, parents and other players exaggerated emotional portrayals in describing the reintroduction of Marshall's football program following the 1970 plane crash. On November 14, 1970, a horrendous event shattered the hearts of many and induced the nation to support Marshall University. According to the plane crash records, there was fog ahead of them. Therefore, the pilots of the plane did not see the landing strip and crashed a few miles before the asphalt. The fire and explosion resulting from the accident went out of control and nothing could save the football club and sponsors. The football club had to be rebuilt and a meeting was held to discuss this decision. Nate Ruffin, an injured player who was not on the plane, interrupts the game. His impression of the board influenced the board's decision to maintain the program. Starting the process, the athletic director decides to hire Jack Lengyel. They initially tried out for Red Dawson but he turned down the job. Subsequently, he was persuaded to become an assistant coach by Jack.
