Since its inception as a small community hospital, it takes pride in providing quality healthcare and its concern for its patients. Over the years, it has grown to become “a full-service facility, featuring a 427-bed acute care facility with more than 1,300 employees and more than 1,000 physicians on staff, representing more than 70 specialties and subspecialties.” (The Plano Medical Center, 2014, para. 2) The main campus “includes the main hospital and medical offices, also includes an ambulatory surgery center, a comprehensive cancer care center, an emergency and trauma center of level 2, a radiology center/imaging center, a comprehensive cardiovascular program, the Center for Lifestyle Improvement, the Bariatric Institute, the Wound Care Center and comprehensive services for women and children, including an antepartum unit at high risk and a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit." (Plano Medical Center, 2014, para. 2) This success can be credited to their mission statement: “Above all, we are committed to caring and improving lives human; in recognition of this commitment, we are committed to providing high-quality, cost-effective health care in the communities we serve.” (The Medical Center of Plano, 2014, para. 1) Their dedication to their mission and also the loyalty of local community have given way to recent construction projects, such as a $66 million expansion and renovation, a new emergency room construction, and a new ambulatory surgery center. Bankruptcy could mean a possible closure of the business. Plano Medical Center has nearly 40 years of success. The Center has proven to be a staple in the community and continues to thrive in an ever-evolving industry.
