In the play "King Lear" it describes how a king was at the top of his kingdom and his kingdom was so powerful, but soon everything went wrong, his kingdom together with King Lear himself collapsed due to betrayal and lies. People usually think that lying is the easiest way out of trouble, but King Lear had it bad. He lost his kingdom, his land and his family. Some of this was done by him, but the only person who really wanted to get rid of him was Edmund. From the beginning Edmund would show how he wants to be more than what he was born to be. Edmund was Edgar's illegitimate half-brother and wanted Glouscter's attention, which ultimately led Edmund to want more, Glouscter's place in the kingdom. Edmund is a type of person who will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. What Edmund did shows that he is indeed a deceptive character. He planted evidence on himself, so it appears that Edgar is trying to murder Glouscter when in reality Edmund is the one setting him up. He sets this up so that Edgar seems like the bad guy so that Edmund seems like the good guy in Gloucester's eyes. Edmund gets into trouble to make Edgar believe he is still on his side. One thing you can learn through William Shakespeare is that Edmund cannot be trusted and that he is turning against his family to get what he wants for himself. In the eyes of the other characters they see Edmund as a good boy and that he has done nothing wrong. The way William Shakespeare describes Edmund is a surprise to Glouscter and Edgar. He is said to be a good brother and loyal son to Glouscter. Edmund sees himself as if what he is doing is okay and acceptable to do. He thinks he can get away with anything if only... middle of paper... he can throw him out they started fighting over Edmund, he had started joking with both daughters, then Albany decided to say that Edmund and Goneril have planned to kill him and that he is a traitor. Later someone in disguise shows up and challenges Edmund to a duel, then in one-on-one sword fighting Edmund is hit in the stomach by the boy's sword. The disguised boy turns out to be Edgar who ends up killing his brother Edmund. While Edmund is on the ground dying Edgar tells Edmund that his father is dead and that's when that gorilla poisoned Regan and now she is dead. Edmund is happy to discover that the two women are dead and that they died for his love and then confesses that he ordered for King Lear and for Cordilia when he says that he managed to save King Lear's life but sadly discovers that Cordilia is dead.
