Mysterious friend Arnold goes to Connie's house. He tries to convince Connie to take his car for a spin. Most people will deny the offer, but since Connie is unruly, she is easily persuaded by Arnold. Arnold tricks Connie with his charm and ride. He takes her to a place where she doesn't know. We find that Mr. Friend is not so friendly, but a sick soul with a loose tongue. Besides this I agree with the author Christina Marsden Gills of “Short Story Criticism, vol.6” when she explains that: “women are vulnerable to seduction, and obviously to rape, Susan Brownmiller reminded us, for what at first glance they could be seen as purely physiological reasons; and there's no doubt that it's physical violence when Arnold Friend croons to Connie, "I'll come inside you where it's all secret"; but the seduction motif works so well in "where are you going" because the delineation of the internal space figured in the female body analyzes the invasion at different levels: the domestic space, the state of childhood associated with the home and, of course, the 'individual
