I chose to do my concert critique on the full Eric Clapton-MTV unplugged-HQ concert on January 16, 1992 at Bray Film Studios in Windsor, England. Eric Clapton is my favorite rock n roll singer and mixes several genres. The concert was inside and on stage. The audience was seated close to the stage, which made for a comfortable atmosphere; Eric and the band showed a lot of warmth and connected with the audience, it wasn't as if the band were untouchable. The band consists of 8 members, Nathan East bassist/vocals, Andy Fairweather-Low, lead guitar/vocals, Steve Ferrone-drums, Chuck Leavell - keyboards, Ray Cooper - tambourines, Katie Kissoon and Tessa Niles - vocals, and Eric Clapton - composer, rock n roll guitarist, singer. The band members dressed in casual clothes. The band members were professionals, they knew exactly how to orchestrate every chord, they collaborated with the singer and each other in ways that were not so obvious to the audience but they knew which chords to use for each song, the band was a top notch team. The tempo of the songs was a mixture of fast, slow and medium tempo. The texture of the songs was homophonic and the lyrics were well put together. The style of music was from the 60s-70s and the genres were rock, blues rock, psychedelic rock, hard rock, jazz and blues. The first song was “Signe” just guitar chords with no vocals, (2) “Before youaccuse me” and (3) “Hey Hey” Eric Clapton lead vocals accompanied by just guitar chords, the tempo was a medium tempo and the genre was blues style (4) “Tears in heaven” Eric Clapton's lead vocals accompanied by backing singers blended beautifully together with the chords, the melody was very soft the tempo was slow, this song was dedicated in memory of his 4 years...... middle of paper ......professionals didn't just play but took pride in whatever instrument they played, which really made it more enjoyable. I noticed how the band communicated with each other through both manual and visual signals and everyone paid close attention to Eric's every move. It is so important to observe who is driving; good communication will reduce many unnecessary errors. I really liked the songs, the plot of the songs was very well composed, even though the songs were written in a 60's and 70's style I could relate to them. My favorite is "Layla". Sometimes I sing it throughout the day, I love the texture and I love the rhythm. Overall the concert was amazing, I would definitely go to Eric Clapton's concert if he came to my city. The concert was worth listening to and I would definitely invite a friend to join me.
