Facebook is one of the main causes of disruption, the New York Post published it; “Last year the word Facebook was included in more than a third of divorce filings.” Social media sites like Facebook contain too many temptations. Before social media, there were not so many temptations that a person had to go out of their way to look for it, but now it is simply outdated. In addition to the temptations, there is a lack of respect for relationships and there are constantly people trying to get in the way. Lack of loyalty is what couples fear most, some studies have shown that "the greater the use of Facebook the greater the effect on the relationship and the sparks of jealousy". This shows that social media increases the amount of stress and sense of competition in both parties of a relationship. Being online is a lot like having people in your home at any time of day or night; and if a relationship is not adequately nourished it is easy for emotional infidelity to occur
