Key Issues Endangered species are animals or beings that are so small in number that they are at very high risk of becoming extinct. There are over 3000 species in danger of extinction worldwide due to many factors including overfishing, hunting, habitat destruction, climate change and dwindling food supplies. As the number of endangered species is increasing rapidly, it is very important to take action to conserve them for a number of reasons. If endangered species are not preserved, this could easily lead to species extinction, which could disrupt the food chain and lead to further extinction of other species. This could not only have negative effects on predators, but would ultimately lead to negative effects on species further up the food chain, including the human species. Over the years research has come to discover and discover that all species play an important role in caring for our ecosystem and extinction could cause a big hole in the system. Global Perspective Overall many different species have contributed to helping humans identify different ways for healthy survival. Veterinarian Sabrina Krief demonstrated this by studying chimpanzees in Uganda. He found that chimpanzees have learned to consume different plants in the right dosage to take care of various health problems such as malaria, parasites and digestive problems. Nature and species have contributed components such as venom to create drugs to treat health ailments. Scorpion venom plays an important role in brain tumor research. A species of African frog, Xenopus laevis, produces a molecule that helps prevent infections from body injuries. A venomous lizard, Gila Monster, may have a substance in its venom that contributes... middle of paper... to the system and this is the best way to do it. I also believe that without having the goal of preserving the natural world and all species we would destroy the earth because there would be nothing to stop us from polluting natural habitats, overfishing, poaching or destroying natural habitats. I believe that by not preserving endangered species we are being cruel and inhumane as we are meant to share the planet rather than destroy other species without actually getting any benefit from it. Personally, I think it is important for my grandchildren, their children, etc. to grow up in a world with the same biodiversity we have now, as it is very important for people to learn and be educated about the ways of life of other species. I believe that by preserving not only endangered species but all species we are doing a great favor not only to the human species but also to the earth.
