McDonaldizationIn modern society technology has made a progress in history and has helped launch a new progress for society. It is a great source that helps get the job done and has made it much faster and more efficient. However, some may consider these advances a little too overwhelming. In today's society, people are always on the go, so they often look for quick and efficient ways. For example, nowadays we often see many fast food restaurants everywhere, just waiting for the average busy consumer to perhaps stop by on their way to work or something to grab a bite to eat. These fast food restaurants are often easy to spot and become so familiar to most people that going there can become part of the daily routine. According to the following online sources there is a theory called “McDoanldization”, which is used to describe the spread of the fast food chain industry and how it has affected the social structure of society and also the way people behave and act. McDonaldization is a theory created by George Ritzer, who developed a theory to explain how a society is “rationalizing” itself. This refers to how corporations have taken control of how the government runs society. According to online sources, corporations in the fast food industries have taken over and created a process that helps eliminate aspects of individuality in society. It has become a fast-growing trend and takes compliance to a whole new level. According to the theory, McDonaldization is based on four central principles: predictability, or the ability to recognize and become familiar with that place based on what is expected from it. For example, when people go to a fast food restaurant they expect to see billboards depicted in the center of the card. People often recognize logos and associate them with their daily lives. For example, if someone wanted to go to Target, they would look for a red bull's-eye sign on a building and this logo meant shopping location. McDonaldization is dominating the way society is structured and is taking over the world. The cited work "McDonaldization.com - What Is It?" McDonaldization.com - What is it?
