The Scriptures consistently make it clear that as disciples of Christ we are to serve others and be less self-centered. When we apply these teachings, we set a biblical example for our family that demonstrates that we have read and applied the teachings in the scriptures. Whether serving in the church or helping at the local homeless shelter, we should be active in bringing Christ to others by serving them. By doing this we will demonstrate that we are not simply readers of the Word but also doers of the Word. When a family observes that the father and husband are more Christ-centered by serving others, this is much more likely to have a positive impact on the family than simply training them to be servants.
