Tsar Nicholas II was the first to abdicate in the line of the Romanov dynasty. During his reign in Russia from 1894 to 1917 he encountered many obstacles. Tsar Nicholas II's decision to enter the Great War that led to the February Revolution of 1917 could be seen as the enabler [awk] that led to his eventual downfall. This essay will examine some of the issues that played a role in his abdication. Before Tsar Nicholas II became emperor, Russia had gone through some radical and political changes. Russia was not ready for war due to the lack of modern military weapons. The conditions created by the war and the government's mismanagement at home pushed him to the decision to abdicate. He refused to listen to his ministers who had more experience in running the country. Furthermore, Tsarina Alexander was easily influenced by Rasputin and listened to his advice and pushed Tsar Nicholas II to follow Rasputin's advice as well. The royal family's involvement with the wrong person has tarnished the family name. Tsar Nicholas II and his wife Tsarina Alexandra did not know how to judge people and were therefore easily influenced.
