Break the Cycle and Love Is Respect both have interactive online prevention programs with immediate intervention. Both programs are beneficial because they have long-term effects on the communities in which they operate. The CDC's Youth Violence Prevention Program targets underserved communities where adolescent violence is at high risk due to environmental and economic factors. I live in Baltimore, one of the communities served by the CDC. Because Baltimore has a long history of youth violence, through Dating Matters ®, the Baltimore City Health Department partners with approximately 12 middle schools to help prevent teen dating violence with a program called Safe Streets. Safe Streets initiatives help build on community mobilization, awareness, public education, faith-based engagement and criminal justice participation to help set the stage for preventing teen dating violence in Dating Matters ®.
