Margaret ThatcherTriumph of power and authority. These are some of the most pronounced qualities possessed by none other than Margaret Baroness Thatcher. Throughout her life, Thatcher was able to transform the lives of many. It was evident from the start that Thatcher would soon begin to influence life in the modern world. Margaret Thatcher contributed to the history, art and culture of Britain through women's rights, the end of socialism and the revitalization of the British economy. In her early years, Margaret attended Oxford University; specializing in gin chemistry and subsequently earning a law degree (The Path). She was first exposed to politics when her father was mayor of their hometown (Columbia Ecncyclopedia). During that time, Margaret was unable to find work due to companies' reluctance to hire women; making it a difficulty for Thatcher. Not long after, he began working for tax lawyers. It was here that his great knowledge of law predicted his role as a politician. Thatcher would make history after becoming the first female Prime Minister and the first female leader of the Western nation. It was through this that Thatcher would promote women's rights and freedom. Thatcher's father always taught her to always speak her mind, despite what others think, something she would take to heart in the future (Margaret Thatcher Foundation). Margaret Thatcher was given the title "Iron Lady" for her boldness, wit and willpower. to bring about a change in the nation. In 1961, after just two years in parliament, Margaret became a junior minister. Once she became First Mister, Margret faced many other issues.
