Topic > The victim precipitation theory: Nicole's case...

The victim precipitation theory holds that the victim provokes the attack against the (Argosy University, 2016). The reason I chose this theory of victimology is because Nicole continued to date Ron or be involved with Ron and still came and went to the residence where she was married to Simpson. Nicole knew he was unstable, he should move away from that residence and definitely not bring anyone he was dealing with there. In this way I feel he may have provoked Simpson, either way his actions are not justified, but they may have been provoked in his mind by some of Nicole's actions. The criminological theory that I consider most suitable for this case is the theory of social disorganization. Social disorganization theory holds that a person's physical and social environment is primarily responsible for their behavior (Argosy University, 2016). In this case I believe Simpson was embarrassed that his marriage had failed and Nicole was sporting a new relationship and was happy. This was belittling and embarrassing for the famous footballer and he was unable to control the situation, so he took matters into his own hands. Simpson's behavior was due to his environment, and he got by because of society's love for him as a football player and actor. Although Nicole's murder was unjustified, Simpson felt that his actions were justified because he got away with it. Simpson told Esquire Magazine in 1998, "Let's say I committed the crime...even if I did it, it would have been because I loved her so much, right?" (On relationships, 2016). A statement like that just tells me that in his mind his actions were justified, even if his case was
