When it comes to teaching a diverse classroom, many teachers feel pressure to ensure that all of their students learn the same way and understand the material in the same way. Because diversity is defined by more than a student's race or national origin, a teacher like me must be prepared to identify the strengths, weaknesses, limitations, and/or special needs of his or her students. One way to ensure this is to plan carefully to ensure all students participate in an educational activity that they all find interesting and personally relevant to their situations or lives.
