I have lived with the secret of being in foster care since I was twelve, and I feel relieved to have finally been able to share my story with someone who doesn't I already know. It's actually funny when I think about it. I shared this personal part of my life with a complete stranger I never had the opportunity to meet, yet I have friends I've known for years who I still haven't told. Although this essay has been seen by one person, if I were to rewrite and publish it, my target audience would be foster children who may also be going through a difficult time in their lives.
