Introduction: Social perception is 1.“the cognitive process that helps us form impressions about those around us and subconscious attitudes toward other people based on their distinguishing characteristics that help us understand a situation and evaluate our behavior accordingly. Social perception can be the mental progression through gathering clues and signals from others that help us form an early stage of what they might be like. Our brains can rely on stereotypes or previous similar experiences to build a picture of what to expect from a given social encounter.” Social perception is seen when individuals first meet (first impression), attribution, and through nonverbal communication. Social perception illustrates how people form impressions and make innuendos about other people. The aim of this task is to illuminate the different aspects that can influence a person's perception and the effects it brings to the work environment. We live in a world where stereotypes and prejudices reign supreme, where individuals conclude their perception of each other the first time they meet. In high school I was taught a saying that has stayed with me to this day, the saying “first impressions last forever”. During this assignment you should not only learn about the aspects of social perception but also gain a life lesson that we live in a very critical society, so don't change for someone else's acceptance. Always stay true to yourself and remember who you are. It must also be understood that a social perception is not based on facts, but simply on various opinions on different aspects put together.
