How to read literature like a professor In the clever novel "How to read literature like a professor" by Thomas C. Foster, there is neither a protagonist nor antagonist. Overall, the novel provides insights into how to catch signs of symbolism, irony, and many other hidden details that are buried in the words of literature. Foster references many classic novels by classic authors to demonstrate the use of logic in writing. The novel is extremely informative and leaves many insightful questions and interpretations up to the reader's opinion. After reading the opening chapters, I was surprised by the relaxed and casual attitude displayed by Foster. He didn't explain certain aspects of previously written novels in a way that was difficult to understand. Foster explained things very well, but with good taste. He didn't continue with boring information; he simply expressed his point of view in a way that made me want to know more. Not only was his way of thinking and expressing his thoughts interesting, but the topics he drew on were also interesting. Foster linked the things surrounding our average daily lives to literature and the effect it brings to literature. For example, Foster talks about vampires in the first few chapters. Most people have seen numerous vampire movies, making it easy to connect with what he was talking about. His overall tone and writing strategy were relatable and at the very least overwhelming, which quickly captured my attention and made me interested in things I wouldn't normally be interested in. The ending of the novel was inspiring. The author suggests the reader delve into great novels and also provides a list of personally suggested novels. He ended with a… middle of paper… an “orcist” and look at all the spin-offs that came out of it. The spin-off films were born from the same idea, but had a little twist, just to give it a touch of originality, like "The Exorcism of Emily Rose". Although everyone's minds are very different, some of our ideas continue to be the same. Despite the fact that Foster may have overemphasized the point he was making about originality, he proved his point. In conclusion, the brilliant novel "How To Read Literature Like A Professor" by Thomas C. Foster is a fantastic novel that helps you grasp the basic ideas and structure that constitutes a literary work. Foster's relaxed attitude made a major contribution to the great tone of the novel and made it easier to understand. Many links were included in the novel, along with some great quotes. After reading this novel, I have a better idea of what to look for when reading a novel.
