Topic > Influence of Technology on Human Virtues - 1721

I argue that it harmfully affects people's lives because technology violates individual privacy and ruins a person's moral development. Technology replaces true virtues with illusions of fulfillment, desires, and connection. He wrongly redefined the concept of friendship as consisting of deep empathy, reciprocity, self-knowledge and shared life. It also reduces people to happy device integrators. To regain some of the fundamental human virtues, people must reconsider both the dominant social relations in society and the technology they use.
