A famous quote by Grandi reads “An eye for an eye will do nothing but make the whole world blind”. In Edgar Allen Poe's short story, "Cask of Amontillado", Montresor feels he has been wronged and must take revenge. He feels that Fortunato has made a constant effort to insult and besmirch his family name. He then hatches a plan to trick Fortunato into his cellar to finally end this feud between the two. The circumstances were perfect when he arrived at the party and was greeted by a drunken Fortunato; who, I believe, was purposely dressed like a madman. As they went down to the cellar to taste this rare wine, or so Fortunato thought, Montresor began putting together the last pieces needed to finish it. In the end, Montresor traps Fortunato and his anger in a brick wall forever. Throughout the story, you see that Montresor's character is not always the most reliable or trusting person and that his character can be very manipulative.
