The three points are one of the most precious rules of the game. Some owners called for three-pointers because they thought it was getting boring to only get two points per play (Baughman 2). Golden State Warrior owner Franklin Miculi came out of the voting process and said there was a three-point shot. In the first year with the three-point rule, teams shot 5,000 threes (Baughman 2). They made just 28% of the threes they took. Another great rule present in the NBA is technical fouls and intentional fouls. Players or a coach may commit a technical foul (Breakthrough basketball 5). They can receive a technical foul for swearing, rude gestures and arguments. If you receive two technical fouls you are sent off for the rest of the game. Only players may commit a foul if the official deems that they were going towards the ball without accidentally attempting to steal it (Breakthrough basketball 5). An intentional foul is when a player makes physical contact with another player without reasonable effort to steal the ball. There are always five players on the field to start the game and you can end it with as many as you want. One position in basketball is center and is usually the tallest and biggest guy on the team (Breakthrough basketball 6). The center's job is to rebound, set good blocks, stay close to the basket to shoot and block people. Another position in basketball
