This excerpt shows very beautifully how Hassan is a hard working, lower class boy who appreciates things and makes the best of his situation, he is bright and awake early, full of energy, singing and enjoying the day he has in front of him, happy to be alive. This also proves the fact that people from the lower class are able to enjoy the little things in life much more than those from the upper class, because they have to work hard and appreciate the things they work hard for. However upper class people can become snobbish and accepting
