Topic > My Reasons for Joining the Marine Corps - 1816

Most or all of my reasons for joining the Marines are as follows.Ideal: The Marines embody my personal views and ideals more than other branches of the force armi.Loyalty , I respect and love the idea of loyalty to one or more people... or to a cause. To be totally loyal to something without a doubt, but also to love and honor that something, that idea is something I want and adore. Which also brings me to the Honor. I think since I discovered it in middle school I have always respected the idea of Honor. It means a lot to me. It is the ideal upon which a person can build and guide their beliefs and standards. Honor goes hand in hand with Loyatly. Being loyal to a cause greater than my own is one of the reasons I joined the Marines. Working to pay the next bill day after day is not what I want. My goal so far has been to simply survive and get the next fix (video games, sports, music, etc.) HONOR: Taking a stand for something you believe in, fighting for those you love, so they don't have to. Sacrificing many things so that your loved ones don't have to. Fight until the end, when you think there is nothing left, and then find the courage and inner strength to carry on. Make an impact, no matter the odds against you. Faith in those around you and in your beliefs. Master your fears, because fear is a weakness. Knowing your emotions, they can be a loving ally or a black hole. Preparing for a fight is one thing, looking for it is another. Self-awareness, not self-centeredness. Know yourself but don't be fascinated. Discipline. Physical, mental, spiritual and emotional self-control. Confidence in yourself and in leading those who follow. (this is what I think Honor is) Honor,...... middle of paper...... tiring out of there. I plan to get officer training at some point. I will go to college when I have spent at least 2-3 years in the infantry. Then I'll also change my MOS to learn some technical skills, repair vehicles, stuff like that, just in case. Something I can fall back on in case my plans after The Marines fail. I plan to join the CIA or FBI. (if the CIA doesn't fail) Definitely anti-terrorism stuff. Active stuff, not a desk job. To do this I will need several years of college. That's why I plan to stay in the Marines for a long time. Because I have a lot to prepare. A lot of people have told me I can't make that decision yet, about me being there a long time and all that. I say I can. I made my decisions and my plans. But I guess I'll see how it all turns out. Until then that's where I will continue to believe.
