Topic > Persuasive Essay on Love and Sacrifice - 1874

It's about actually sacrificing your body for something. Whether it's something you believe in, or a physical thing. People around the world did it for a better cause and perhaps inspired their actions. There may be a time when you will suffer so that the person you care about feels comfortable. For example, in "The Gift of the Magi" the author describes a scene in which the father returns home, he is described as thin and cold. It states: "He looked thin and very serious... he needed a new coat and was without gloves." This shows how this man has given up the comfort of warmth and would rather let his body be cold just so as not to waste money on himself and would probably use it for needs other than his own. Perhaps this shows that he probably forgoes a meal every now and then to use the money for a meal perhaps for his family rather than himself. He would physically sacrifice nourishment and warmth to benefit others except himself and expect nothing in return. This conveys immense love if one is willing to do so. Another example of physical sacrifice in “Gift of the Magi” is a scene in which the author explains the woman who gives up her hair just to have money for her husband. The story states, "I got my hair cut and sold it because I couldn't have Christmas without giving you a gift." (Henry. O. 2) This woman loves the man so much that she was willing to sacrifice herself
