The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the RingIn ancient times the Rings of Power were made by elven smiths and the Dark Lord forged the only ring, filing it with his own power so he can rule everyone else. But the one ring was taken from him, and though he searched for it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many years it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit of all creatures. In a sleepy Shire village, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task when his elderly cousin entrusts the ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and embark on a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purposes. Gandulf, who is a dear, old friend of Bilbo, tells Frodo what the ring is and what would happen if the Dark Lord got it back. Frodo asks Gandulf what he must do to help him with this heavy burden. Gandulf tells Frodo about Bree with Sam, but he has to be careful because of the Ringwraiths. The Ringwraiths are dark creatures who work for Sauron and are trying to take back the ring for their master. While traveling they meet Merry and Pippin, two close friends. Frodo decides to tell Merry and Pippin what they are doing here and what is happening. Merry and Pippin know a shortcut to Bree and decide to help Frodo and Sam. Once they get to Bree they are supposed to meet Gandulf, but he is not there, and instead this man named Strider comes to them. He explains that he is a friend of Gandulf and that he will help him get to Rivendell. They take off and spin... center of the card... l because this book is about him trying to destroy the power ring. Frodo's traits should be intelligent for his age, young, determined, sociable, and he is very interested in the world and what there is to see out there. Gandulf's traits should be very wise, talented, open-minded, a leader and a follower. Strange as it may seem, Gandulf must follow Frodo's decisions and his own decisions. Aragorn's traits should be strong, dangerous, risk-taking, adventurous, and daring. Aragorn helps Frodo when Gandulf dies and leads the other to safety. These are the main characters and their characteristics. All in all this is a great story to read, and there are two more books to round out what happens. This is my book summary of The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring.
